We have just heard that the hospital suffered from serious flooding over the weekend of 9/10 September. As the flooding knocked out the power supply, it is difficult to contact people and the details are sketchy at the moment.
The whole farm meadow area is underwater and patients have had to be evacuated from Paediatrics, Lower Medical and Female Surgical Wards. Other wards have been affected too.
Electrical power has been affected and control boards damaged. The water supply has been interrupted.
There is likely to be raw sewage, from the long-drop toilets, in this floodwater, with the attendant risk of disease.
Please pray for those at the hospital, as they struggle to cope with this situation, and for the health of staff and patients.
The flood could have a devastating impact on the hospital’s finances at a time when they are struggling to cope with the falling value of the pound on the foreign exchange markets. We have set up a fundraising page specifically to help with this emergency. Please give generously and share this page with all your friends and through social media. (After clicking on “donate now”, ignore the usual options and enter an amount beside “other”.)
We’ll update this site when we have more information.
